Area: Global Digital Services (GD) focuses on digital solutions for BASF's service units. It is responsible for driving and promoting the digitalization of all services, as well as the automation of processes at a global level, the management and coordination of ERP systems, and the newly created Digital Hubs. Thanks to the implementation of a modern infrastructure that aims to have nearly 100% of our applications in the cloud over the next decade, GD enables our business colleagues and the BASF service team to create their own solutions using user-friendly platforms.
Main Objective of the Position:
The main objective of this position in the Global Software License Management team is to ensure contractual compliance of software globally, aligned with BASF's business needs. This includes measuring software usage to sustain license contracts, enhancing transparency around software utilization and costs, and supporting strategic decisions within the Software Lifecycle Process. Additionally, the role focuses on meeting BASF Group's budget requirements through effective financial management of software contracts and overseeing License Products purchased by BASF Group of Companies.
Main Tasks:
Proactively manage license contracts within your designated area, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and taking proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Optimize the usage of licenses to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, while generating comprehensive compliance reports for relevant products.
Support both external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and insights related to license management.
Engage and communicate regularly with internal stakeholders located globally, serving as a liaison for license-related inquiries and updates.
Act as the primary point of contact for license products in the Americas, encompassing both North and South America.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of regional license agreements, specifically focusing on the unique requirements and legal specifics of the Americas, including US laws and regulations.
Manage budgeting and forecasting activities related to responsible license products, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
Maintain a solid understanding of general financial processes, including controlling processes, to support effective decision-making.
Contribute to the Global Budgeting process by providing relevant data and insights from your area of responsibility.
Create and manage necessary reports utilizing license management tools, ensuring accurate tracking and analysis of license utilization.
Seek opportunities to optimize cash flow associated with license products, identifying areas for potential cost savings.
Collaborate with the Purchasing and Procurement team, actively participating in negotiations with License Product Companies to secure favorable terms.
Participate in the Global License Management Community, sharing best practices and learning from peers.
Utilize hands-on experience with tools such as Flexera’s Software Asset Management Module to enhance operational efficiency.
Leverage knowledge of Software Asset Management processes to streamline daily operations and improve overall license management effectiveness.
Requirements for the Position:
Education: University degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Informatics or in a comparable field.
Working Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience in Software License
Good knowledge and hands on experience in State-of-the-art License Metrics
Language Skills: Advanced language skills in English
Technical Skills:
Good grip on Microsoft Tools (Word, Excel, MS-Access, Powerpoint Presentations) and Collaboration Tools
Good knowledge and hands on experience in License Management Tools (Flexera) and various
Advantage if you can work with PowerBI/PowerApps
Soft Skills:
Analytical thinking and strong decision making
Excellent communication skills as well as collaborative working style
Working with Senior Executives and other internal approval bodies
